International Day of Parliamentarism is being celebrated today, to highlight the importance of parliaments around the world and the work they do for democracy. The aim of celebrating the day is also to recognize and reaffirm the power of people as the ultimate arbiter in shaping destinies of countries. The theme of the day this year is 'Parliamentary diplomacy: Building bridges for peace and understanding'. Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah have termed the supremacy of the Parliament essential for the growth and development of democratic institutions in the country. In their separate messages on International Day of Parliamentarism, they said parliaments have a crucial role to play in promoting democratic values, human rights, and the rule of law. They reiterated the Pakistani Parliament's commitment to upholding these principles and ensuring the democratic institution's continued growth and development. Pakistan Hajj Mission in Madinah has announced that Aabe-e-Zamzam was provided to 28,000 Hujjaj while they were returning to their homes. Radio Pakistan's Correspondent in Madinah Bilal Khan Mehsud reports that the Aabe-Zamzam is being provided at Madinah and Jeddah airports to the Hujjaj in a hassle free manner. Under the Zamzam policy, all the pilgrims traveling through PIA would book Zamzam with their luggage at Jeddah and Madinah Airports, except for Quetta and Sukkur. It is noteworthy that Zamzam is being provided to the pilgrims of Quetta and Sukkur on arrival at the Pakistani airports. All pilgrims traveling by Air Blue, Air Sial and Serene Air are being provided with a 5 liter bottle of Zamzam per passport. In this regard, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has also displayed the names and contact numbers of the focal persons of the respective Haji camps and airlines on its official social media platforms for guidance in case of any kind of problem in the provision of Zamzam. Anti-polio campaign of varied duration will start in forty-one districts of the country from tomorrow. During the special campaign, more than 9.5 million children under five years of age will be administered polio vaccine. The campaign includes sixteen districts of Balochistan, eleven districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, eight districts of Sindh and five districts of Punjab. Door-to-door polio campaign will be conducted in specific Union Councils of Islamabad This campaign is being launched in view of increasing polio cases in Balochistan. According to Coordinator National Command and Operation Center Muhammad Anwar Haq this campaign will be conducted in the areas where polio virus is continuously present. Prime Minister's Coordinator on Climate Change Romina Khurshid Alam says comprehensive measures are being taken ahead of the upcoming monsoon season to prepare for potential floods. In a statement, she said these proactive efforts aim at minimizing the impact of floods on vulnerable communities. She said in view of safety of affected individuals, relief camps will be established at easily accessible locations to ensure provision of essential amenities including shelter, food, portable drinking water, medical supplies, and animal care. The Prime Minister's coordinator emphasized that the ministry is serving as a collaborative platform for all relevant departments to assess flood vulnerability and develop a unified strategy to mitigate the effects of potential floods on lives and livelihoods, crops and infrastructure. The initiative to transfer economic benefits from Balochistan's natural resources to the local population is currently in progress. In this regard, Mari Petroleum Company Limited has completed several projects in many areas of the province including Bolan, Quetta, Ziarat and Harnai with the cost of seven hundred and forty three million rupees. These projects include health, education, water supply schemes, electricity and gas supply and infrastructure development. Pakistan Army and FC Balochistan (North) are providing security cover to these projects. According to MPCL Regional Manager Intisab Naseer, around forty five houses were constructed for deserving people which were destroyed due to floods. He further said job opportunities were also provided to locals. The people of Balochistan are being taken forward in terms of education and development as they are benefiting from resources of province.
