Federal Secretary of Information and Broadcasting Shahera Shahid and former Federal Secretary Shahid Mahmood met Pakistan's Ambassador to United States Masood Khan at the Pakistan's Embassy in Washington DC. They discussed media landscape especially the positive role being played by Pakistani and US media in strengthening bilateral ties and perception management to cement people to people linkages. Pakistan Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi says Chinese companies have shown great interest in Pak-China Business Conference. In his briefing regarding the conference, the Ambassador said around 700 hundred renowned Chinese companies have registered themselves to participate in the conference. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will deliver his keynote address in the inaugural session of the conference. He said after the inaugural session, business to business meetings have been scheduled. Before his address, the prime minister will hold meetings with the businessmen from Pakistan. The Ambassador said main purpose of this conference is to promote foreign investment. Traders and container drivers have expressed their pleasure over government's decision allowing the temporary entry permit for cargo vehicles from the designated crossings on the Pak-Afghan border. This important step has been taken to promote Pak-Afghan trade. Due to the large number of commercial transactions, the implementation of the Temporary Entry Document will boost trade. Minister of State for Finance and Revenue Ali Pervaiz Malik has emphasized the need to continue the economic boom and bust cycle of poverty in Pakistan to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth in the country. Addressing the closing ceremony of a two-day workshop on 'Parliamentary Proceedings and Budget Process' in Islamabad today, he said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his team successfully averted the looming financial default, and now the economy is getting stabilized. Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that important steps are being taken for development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He said this while talking to the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq in Islamabad. He said that development of Azad Kashmir is first priority of government. The Minister underscored the need to promote tourism in Azad Kashmir. Ahsan Iqbal said that Paksat MM1 satellite will help in providing fastest internet service to Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Swiss Ambassador to Pakistan, George Steiner has commended the Pakistan Red Crescent Society for its outstanding service during natural disasters and crises. International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression was observed on Tuesday. The purpose of the day is to acknowledge the pain suffered by children throughout the world who are the victims of physical, mental and emotional abuse. Over fifteen thousand children have been martyred in Israel's invasion on Gaza since last October and thousands have been deprived of their rights to health, water, food, medicine, and a clean environment. Pope Francis has said that interfaith dialogue and harmony are the only solution to the problems, being faced by the world today. He was talking to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who called on him at Vatican City. Issues related to interfaith harmony, interfaith dialogue and promotion of peace and brotherhood came under discussion. Pope Francis said his message for the people of Pakistan is peace and we should all work for peace and harmony. He prayed for the development and prosperity of Pakistan and expressed his best wishes for its people. He also praised the immediate construction and repair of churches after the Jaranwala tragedy. Describing the situation in Palestine as a matter of concern, the Pope said he gets updates about Palestine daily by having discussions with the welfare workers in Palestine. Speaking on the occasion, the Interior Minister commended the services of Pope Francis to make the world a cradle of peace. Mohsin Naqvi informed the Pope that protection of minorities in Pakistan is our top priority. He said our religion, our Prophet, our Constitution and founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah have also emphasized the protection and care of minorities. He said the minorities living in Pakistan are enjoying equal rights. The Interior Minister thanked Pope Francis for taking an effective stance on the Palestine issue. He also informed the Pope about Pakistan's sacrifices and actions in the war against terrorism. He said Pakistani nation and armed forces have rendered unprecedented and matchless sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
