A two-day mentorship program for copyright management organizations in the country would commence on Wednesday in Lahore. The mentorship program will be jointly organized by World Intellectual Property Organization in collaboration with the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan, the Japan Copyright Office, and the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan. The program is aimed at enhancing the capacity of copyright management organizations in Pakistan, promoting the protection and utilization of intellectual property rights in the country. It will also bring together local and international experts to share best practices, knowledge, and experiences in copyright management, fostering a robust and sustainable copyright ecosystem in Pakistan. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that the provincial government is committed to empower women and promote gender equality. In a message on international women's day in diplomacy, she said that this day is marked to credit women for their extraordinary services in the field of diplomacy. She said that women' role in diplomacy is crucial to promote peace. Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori has said present government is taking all possible steps to improve the basic infrastructure including the road network, water and sanitation, safety and security for the promotion of country tourism. Talking to a private news channel, he stressed for the promotion of tourists sites in the country to strengthen Pakistan's economy and enhance 'cultural activities' for youngsters. The Governor said the government will continuously focus on niche tourism segments such as business events, Eco-tourism, community-based tourism, medical and wellness, edu-tourism, and experiential travel to bring more tourists in the country. He stressed the need to further strengthen cultural relations and enhance joint cultural activities with brotherly countries to strengthen cultural and people-to-people relations which will produce positive results. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed to launch sixty-five services under the "Maryam Ki Dastak" initiative in every division. She was chairing a meeting in Lahore today. The meeting accorded approval to expand the Dastak project. During the meeting, it was apprised that the "Maryam Ki Dastak" services should be provided in all districts of Punjab by December and the number of services in Lahore should be increased to 40. During the meeting, the Chairman of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) briefed the meeting on the expansion of the Maryam Ki Dastak project. Source: Radio Pakistan

Minister for States and Frontier Regions, Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Amir Muqam has reiterated to continue raising awareness about the sacrifices of the people of FATA at all fora. In a meeting with the delegation of traders from Malakand in Islamabad today, he vowed to continue representing his people at all levels. The Minister thanked the Prime Minister for supporting his stand regarding FATA and PATA tax exemption. Italy, in collaboration with local partners and supported by UNESCO, will launch a pioneering "Radio Education" programme across Pakistan next month to bridge educational gaps and empower underprivileged communities. This was stated by Italian Ambassador to Pakistan Marilina Armellin in an interview with APP. She said the initiative will also help in sharing practical information on sustainable development practices for schools. A delegation of Pakistan Business Council led by its Chairman Shabbir Diwan called on Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb at Finance Division today. Minister of State for Finance and Revenue Ali Pervez Malik, Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana also attended the meeting. The delegation appreciated the ongoing efforts of government and discussed the Federal Budget 2024-25 with the Finance Minister. They also presented specific suggestions and tax proposals for consideration. The Finance Minister acknowledged and thanked the Pakistan Business Council for its insights. He assured that their recommendations presented by the Council will be considered in the finalization of the budget to whatever extent possible. The Minister also highlighted the FBR's ongoing efforts aimed at broadening the tax base and bringing retailers in tax net.
