China has appreciated establishment of Special Protection Unit (SPU) in Islamabad for the protection of foreigners, particularly the Chinese nationals. The appreciation came during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Chinese counterpart Qi Yanjun in New York. During the meeting, the training of law enforcement agencies and use of modern equipment and technology came under discussion. The Chinese Interior Minister also expressed satisfaction over the progress achieved in the probe of Dasu incident. He also lauded the professionalism and expertise of the Pakistani law enforcement agencies to investigate the incident. It was agreed in the meeting the advisory group of the Chinese Interior Ministry will visit Pakistan soon to provide all possible support and assistance to the local administration for the training and capacity building of the security institutions. The Chinese Interior Minister invited Mohsin Naqvi to participate in the Global Security Forum scheduled to be held in China in September, which he accepted. A District and Session Court in Islamabad has rejected the pleas filed by founding chairman of PTI and his spouse Bushra Bibi for suspension of their sentence in Iddat Nikah case. Additional District and Sessions Judge, Afzal Majoka announced the verdict today, which was reserved on Tuesday. Earlier, a court had handed down seven years sentence in Iddat Nikah Case to both PTI founder and his wife Bushra Bibi in February this year. Source: Radio Pakistan

Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja has instructed the authorities concerned to fulfill all constitutional and legal requirements regarding local government elections in Punjab and Islamabad. Chairing a meeting in Islamabad today, he said the delimitation of constituencies in Punjab has already been done and this process for the Islamabad Capital Territory will be completed by 23rd of next month. Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif says a collective response will be given in the Parliament to US House of Representatives' resolution. Participating in the programme Suno FM Network today, he said the matter will be taken up in the Parliament to forge consensus with the support of the opposition benches. The Minister said that Pakistan gave matchless sacrifices in Afghan war, but sanctions were imposed on it after the war. He said Pakistan always depended on International Monetary Fund and World Bank, and the United States supports both of these institutions. Punjab government is conducting first school census to introduce skill based programme. Talking to a private news channel, Punjab Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat said the school mapping programme to will help to standardize education system in public schools of the province. He said government is also conducting an inter-provincial education conference next month to devise a national strategy to bring improvement in the education system across the country. The Benazir Income Support Programme has disbursed over fifty billion rupees among over four million seven hundred thousand beneficiaries from across the country so far. The disbursement of the quarterly tranche from April to June 2024 of Benazir Kafaalat cash assistance to the beneficiaries is continued across the country in two phases to disburse ten thousand five hundred per household among over nine million registered beneficiary families. The beneficiaries can receive their payment through the nearest centers after receiving the message from 8171.The beneficiaries, in case of any complaint, can approach the nearest BISP Tehsil offices or call the toll-free helpline number 080026477 of the Benazir Income Support Program. The Government of Sindh is taking significant steps to enhance the competitiveness of the livestock in the province. To achieve this goal, the provincial government has approved the Sindh Livestock Aquaculture Sector Transformation project, which will be funded by the World Bank.
