As the world observed the International Women’s Day, today, atrocities inflicted by occupation troops on the Kashmiri women continue unabated in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to a report released by Kashmir Media Service on the occasion of the day, thousands of women are among over ninety-six thousand Kashmiris martyred by the Indian forces’ personnel since January 1989 till date.
At least, 685 women have been murdered by the troops since January 2001.
The report pointed out that the occupation troops molested 11,263 women, including the victims of Kunanposhpora mass rape.
The report said that over three dozen women, including Hurriyat leaders Aasiya Andrabi, Fehmeeda Sofi and Naheeda Nasreen, were facing illegal detention in Indian jails.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement in Srinagar said the Kashmiri women have nothing to commemorate on the International Women’s Day as they continue to face victimization at the hands of I
ndian troops.
He urged the UN as well as the international community to intervene and take cognizance of the sufferings of the Kashmiri women.
On the other hand, speakers at a seminar organized by APHC-AJK chapter in Islamabad, today, paid rich tributes to the Kashmiri women for rendering unparalleled sacrifices in the ongoing freedom movement. They urged the international community to help in resolving the Kashmir dispute as per UN resolutions.
