Islamabad: Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving the issues faced by overseas Pakistanis. He underscored this dedication during a conversation with Radio Pakistan’s correspondent Muhammad Zafar Iqbal Mayo in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, the minister highlighted that the primary aim of the inaugural Overseas Pakistanis Convention 2025 is to ensure that overseas Pakistanis are aware of the government’s determination to work for their welfare. He emphasized the unprecedented scale of this convention and the government’s readiness to engage with and honor the overseas diaspora.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain also announced that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir are scheduled to address the convention tomorrow. Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam, in an exclusive interview with the same correspondent, acknowledged the vital role played by overseas Pakistanis in the country’s economy. He mentioned that the convention would serve as a platform for the diaspora to understand ground realities and explore investment opportunities.
Chairman of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, Syed Qamar Raza, stated that the key goal of the 1st Overseas Pakistanis Convention 2025 is to bridge the gap between overseas Pakistanis and the government. He conveyed that the convention aims to directly address and resolve the issues of overseas Pakistanis while exploring ways to boost their remittances and investments.
Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, a Member of the National Assembly and a prominent business community leader, commented on the convention, urging overseas Pakistanis to invest in Pakistan. He described the country’s economic revival as a success story, noting the industrial sector’s revival following a decrease in electricity prices.
