Islamabad: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to overcoming any obstacles in the Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project and the Diamer Bhasha Dam initiatives for the benefit of the nation. He chaired a meeting to review the progress and challenges of these critical projects, emphasizing their importance to the country’s infrastructure and energy needs.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ahsan Iqbal directed the concerned authorities to expedite the repair work of the Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project. He emphasized the need to develop a detailed plan based on scientific studies to provide a sustainable solution, ensuring long-term stability and value for the investment. This directive aims to address ongoing issues and secure the project’s future contribution to the national energy grid.
The meeting also focused on the Diamer Bhasha Dam, a project envisioned to store water for irrigation, help manage floods, and generate 4,500 megawatts of electricity. The Planning Minister stressed
the importance of resolving land-related issues immediately to enable the project’s commencement, underscoring the dam’s potential impact on mitigating water shortages and generating renewable energy.
