Lahore: Member of the Balochistan Assembly, Farah Azeem Shah, underscored the critical role women play in the development and prosperity of the nation. In an exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan Lahore’s correspondent, Qasim Bukhari, in observance of International Women’s Day, Shah articulated her views on women’s empowerment as guided by Islamic principles.
According to Radio Pakistan, Shah emphasized that Islam has historically empowered women, citing Hazrat Khadija (RA) as an exemplar of entrepreneurship and a proponent of business culture. She noted that women have historically participated in significant roles, including in battles alongside Khatam-un-Nabiyeen Hazrat Muhammad Rasool Allah Sallallaho Alaihe Wa Alayhee Wassalam.
Shah pointed out that women constitute a substantial portion of the national population, arguing that their integration into mainstream society is crucial for achieving national development and progress.
Addressing a question about her career path, Shah revealed that despite being admitted to the medical field, she chose social activism, driven by her commitment to public service through politics.
In a message to women, she encouraged them to overcome challenges, including hardships and bullying, to assert themselves as indispensable members of society.
Discussing her NGO, “Iman Pakistan,” Shah described its innovative approach to raising awareness about the power of voting and its potential to transform destinies. She also spoke about the “Iman Pakistan Movement,” which aims to revive the spirit of national progress and inspire citizens to contribute to the country’s development, reminiscent of its past achievements despite limited resources.
