Islamabad: Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal announced the government’s commitment to providing policy support and investment facilities to the private sector to stimulate exports and bring innovation into the economy. He made this statement while chairing the second meeting of the Policy Board under the “Uraan Pakistan” Programme in Islamabad today.
According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting emphasized the promotion of private investment, export growth, industrialization, infrastructure upgradation, innovation, and the advancement of modern technologies to drive Pakistan’s economic development. During the meeting, Ahsan Iqbal highlighted the need to focus on the 5Es framework to transform Pakistan into a three trillion-dollar economy by 2047.
Various proposals were presented for the development of industrial clusters and increasing exports. The Minister suggested incorporating entrepreneurship as a mandatory subject in university curriculums, enabling the younger generation to create business opportunities and contribute to export growth. He underscored the necessity of public-private collaboration to enhance Pakistan’s production capacity.
Ahsan Iqbal also advocated for the promotion of automation and modern technologies within industries to gain a competitive edge in the global market. Additionally, he called for a stronger focus on branding and quality control to increase exports to markets in China, the Middle East, Europe, and the United States. The Planning Minister emphasized that achieving economic development, self-sufficiency, and global competitiveness requires close collaboration between the government and the private sector.
