Govt Prioritizes Media Innovation to Align with Modern Trends

Riyadh: Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has announced the government’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and advanced media landscape that aligns with modern trends. Speaking at the Saudi Media Forum-2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Tarar highlighted the critical need for international partnerships and collaboration to harness Pakistan’s rich human resources and propel technological advancements.

According to Radio Pakistan, Tarar underscored the importance of cooperation between international and local media entities, aiming to enhance skill development and capacity building within Pakistan’s media sector. He emphasized that support from global partners could catalyze significant transformations within local media organizations.

Citing a World Economic Forum report, Tarar identified fake information as a major threat in today’s world. He advocated for the establishment of an international organization or media outlet comprising member states globally, which would be tasked with implementing a system for fact-checking. This system would leverage artificial intelligence and other advanced information technologies to assess the credibility of information.

Tarar further noted that the proliferation of fake information often outpaces the dissemination of awareness on social issues, urging a collective effort to address this challenge. He called for the responsible and equitable use of social media and artificial intelligence, warning against biased applications of these technologies.
