Govt to ensure power supply in Sindh during amid cyclone Biparjoy: Khurram Dastgir

Minister for Energy, Engineer Khurram Dastgir says on the directives of Prime Minister, efforts are being made to ensure power supply in Sindh, especially in Karachi and Hyderabad regions during Cyclone BIPARJOY.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said we have mobilized five distribution companies to support HESCO and KESC to avoid breakdown, while Ministry of Petroleum has diverted gas supply to Karachi and Hyderabad.

The Minister said speedy winds and rain have disrupted RLNG shipping in Karachi, causing temporary decline in RLNG-based electricity generation and temporary increase in load-shedding.

He further said the teams from Punjab have been sent to coastal areas in advance to support the power staff there.

He said due to speedy winds and rain, electricity transmission plants will be stopped for time being.
