Lahore: Green Pakistan Initiative (GPI), operating under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), is actively working to enhance the agricultural sector with a focus on environmental protection. The initiative is aimed at introducing sustainable farming practices to ensure a long-term, eco-friendly future for agriculture in the region.
According to Radio Pakistan, efforts are being made to convert the barren lands of Cholistan into cultivable areas. This transformation is part of a broader strategy to stabilize the agricultural sector through the application of modern irrigation systems. Such advancements are expected to significantly boost agricultural productivity and sustainability.
A major component of GPI’s strategy includes the establishment of twenty-five Green Agri Malls and Smart Agri Farms in Punjab. These facilities are anticipated to play a crucial role in the overall development of agriculture in the province, serving as hubs for innovation and growth.
In addition to infrastructure development, model farms have been set up in Pirwal and Muzaffargarh. These model farms aim to educate farmers on modern agricultural techniques, offering them the knowledge and tools needed to adopt more efficient and sustainable farming practices. This educational outreach is a vital part of GPI’s mission to transform the region’s agricultural landscape.
