New Passport Rules to Curb Illegal Immigration Announced by Interior Minister


Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced that new requirements for obtaining passports will be implemented to deter beggary and illegal immigration. During a meeting at the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, he emphasized the need for prompt completion of all legal formalities related to these new rules.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Interior Minister stressed the importance of ensuring 100 percent compliance with the directive to block the passports of deported individuals. He also took the opportunity to inspect six newly installed Machine Readable Passport machines and two E-passport machines.



During his visit, the Interior Minister met with a German team in Pakistan for the installation of the machines, highlighting that these new additions would enhance the printing capacity of the passport office and expedite the issuance process for the public.



Director General of Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, provided a detailed briefing during the visit, revealing plans to launch a mobile app aimed at improving convenience for citizens. The meeting was also attended by Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry.
