Pakistan and Qatar Agree to Enhance Anti-Narcotics Collaboration


Islamabad: Pakistan and Qatar have reached an agreement to enhance their cooperation in combating narcotics. This development emerged during a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, and Qatar’s Ambassador, Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater, in Islamabad.



According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting covered various topics of mutual interest, including bilateral relations and the enhancement of cooperation across multiple fields. A significant point of discussion was the status of Pakistani citizens imprisoned in Qatar, highlighting the need for stronger bilateral ties to address such issues.



Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi underscored Pakistan’s close relationship with Qatar and announced the forthcoming Gulf countries’ conference on narcotics control, scheduled to take place in Islamabad in April. He noted that the head of Qatar’s drug control department has been invited to participate, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with friendly nations in narcotics control efforts.



The Qatari Ambassador extended an invitation to Mohsin Naqvi to visit Qatar, an offer that the Interior Minister accepted warmly. The Ambassador reiterated Qatar’s view of Pakistan as a brotherly Islamic country and stressed the significance of maintaining strong bilateral relations.
