PM Launches Ambitious Spring Tree Plantation Drive in Islamabad


Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif launched the Spring Tree Plantation Drive by planting a sapling in Islamabad today. Under the drive, over 41 million saplings will be planted across the country through approximately 2047 events.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of national participation in the drive to mitigate the impacts of climate change. He urged every citizen, especially the youth and farmers, to engage actively in the plantation efforts, which will span across the four provinces, as well as Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.



The Prime Minister highlighted the significant environmental benefits of the initiative, addressing the challenges posed by climate change. He noted that recent climate change impacts have underscored the need for vigorous tree plantation efforts.



In the context of the 2019-25 Green Pakistan Program, trees were planted over a substantial area of 720.916 hectares, marking a precedent for the current drive’s ambitious goals.
