Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have urged the people of Pakistan to conserve water and take responsibility for creating a greener and more resilient country.
According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari emphasized the need for urgent measures to ensure the availability of clean and safe drinking water for everyone. He highlighted the importance of building climate-resilient infrastructure, preventing water pollution, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices as part of this effort.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, discussed the government’s Recharge Pakistan initiative, which aims to reduce the impacts of drought through ecosystem-based adaptation. He also mentioned the Living Indus initiative, which is implementing 25 priority interventions, including promoting nature-based agriculture and restoring the Indus delta. The Prime Minister stressed that water is fundamental to life, economies, food systems, and the environment.
