Shehbaz Sharif to Address Water Resource Management at Riyadh Summit.


Riyadh: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is set to embark on a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia tomorrow to participate in the “One Water Summit” in Riyadh. This summit is a collaborative initiative by Saudi Arabia, France, Kazakhstan, and the World Bank, targeting enhanced global cooperation and a unified international strategy for managing water resources through high-level political commitments.

According to Radio Pakistan, during the Summit, Prime Minister Sharif will deliver a keynote address at a Roundtable that will focus on the restoration, preservation, and adaptation concerning freshwater resources and wetlands. He will discuss Pakistan’s initiatives to promote water conservation, enhance climate resilience, improve water quality, generate livelihoods, and conserve biodiversity.

The Prime Minister will emphasize the necessity of international cooperation to address the effects of climate-induced challenges such as floods, unpredictable and extreme weather patterns, and heat stress on water reso
urces and ecosystems. Furthermore, he will advocate for substantial international collaboration for sustainable water resource management.

In addition to his participation in the Summit, the Prime Minister is anticipated to engage in bilateral meetings and other engagements on the sidelines.
