ISLAMABAD: The Apex Committee of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has expressed satisfaction regarding the improving macro-economic conditions in Pakistan, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure sustained economic growth and benefits for the populace.
According to Radio Pakistan, the 11th meeting of the SIFC Apex Committee took place in Islamabad, chaired by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The gathering was attended by key figures, including the Chief of the Army Staff, members of the Federal Cabinet, Provincial Chief Ministers, the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, and other high-ranking government officials.
The Secretary of the Apex Committee provided a briefing on the strategic focus, initiatives, and contributions of the SIFC in support of the National Economic Transformation Plan 2024-2029, termed ‘Uraan Pakistan’. The meeting saw the approval of an Action Plan aimed at optimizing Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to revitalize Pakistan’s industrial landscape. Additionally, the committee reviewed a National Minerals Harmonization Framework proposal, ensuring stakeholder consensus.
The forum was also briefed on several initiatives within the Human Resource Development sector, aimed at improving skills and achieving global accreditation standards. Provincial Chief Ministers presented ongoing initiatives in their respective regions, which are expected to stimulate economic growth.
The Chief of Army Staff reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to supporting government initiatives for economic stability, ensuring peace and security. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the role of the SIFC, various ministries, departments, and stakeholders in setting a strategic direction for future activities slated for 2025. He emphasized the necessity of collective efforts at all levels to serve the country’s broader interests.
