Islamabad: World Radio Day was observed on Thursday, emphasizing the medium’s essential role in education, information dissemination, and entertainment. This year, the observance was dedicated to the theme ‘Radio and Climate Change,’ aiming to support radio stations in covering this critical issue.
According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the effective role of radio in spreading awareness among the public. He emphasized radio’s vital contribution to shaping opinions on the challenges of climate change and its impacts.
Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, acknowledged Radio Pakistan’s efforts in promoting fine arts, music, entertainment, theater, and cultural heritage. Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah described radio as an efficient means of conveying accurate information to the public.
Federal Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Ambreen Jan, praised Radio Pakistan for its significant role in raising awareness among the masses during natural calamities and on key national issues. Director General of Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, Saeed Ahmad Shaikh, also expressed his commitment to ensuring that Radio Pakistan continues to play its crucial role in enlightening the public.
